Good Morning, and welcome to theFUTURE Washington Nationals fans; our newsletter focused on the Washington Nationals farm system.
There is a lot of news around the Washington Nationals Minor leagues, so let's get right to it. Here is what is happening around the Washington Nationals minor leagues for August 27, 2024.
Leading this Morning’s Briefing: RHP Tyler Stuart is impressing with the Rochester Red Wings
On July 28th, the Washington Nationals traded LF Jesse Winker to the New York Mets for RHP Tyler Stuart. Stuart was in the New York Mets minor leagues at the Double-A level and making some solid impressions. While with the Bimington Rumble Ponies, he had an ERA of 3.96 with a record of 3-7 over 84.0 innings pitched. When Stuart was traded to the Nationals, the team placed him also at the Double-A level; however, after four-game starts and an ERA of 2.08. While with the Senators, Stuart pitched 21.2 innings, giving up only five runs on six hits, striking out 32, and ended up with a WHIP of 1.06.
Stuart was promoted to Triple-A Rochester this week and made his Rochester debut last night. He was impressive. On August 21st, Stuart pitched 6.2 innings, only giving up one run and one hit, striking out six and issuing no walks.
Washington Nationals' Future is Bright: Four Prospects Crack Top 100 List
Consider where the Nationals were ranked in the farm system when they won the World Series in 2019. Given their big-league success, there wasn't much excitement about their prospects, which was understandable.
Fast forward to this past Saturday when RHP Jarlin Susana joined MLB Pipeline's Top 100 Prospects list following the Giants' Hayden Birdsong's graduation. The Washington Nationals now have four prospects on that list—let that sink in.
Enjoy the updated prospect list as of Saturday afternoon:
Dylan Crews (OF) - MLB # 3 (Currently: Rochester Red Wings)
Brady House (3B) - MLB #69 (Currently: Rochester Red Wins)
Travis Sykora (RHP) - MLB #98 (Currently: Fredericksburg Nationals)
Jarlin Susana (RHP) - MLB #100 (Currently: Wilmington Blue Rocks)
One thing is for sure: theFUTURE is bright for the team, and hopefully, all these top prospects will enjoy major league success, and we will follow along.
