Good Morning, and welcome to theFUTURE Washington Nationals fans; our newsletter focused on the Washington Nationals farm system.
There is a lot of news around the Washington Nationals Minor leagues, so let's get right to it. Here is what is happening around the Washington Nationals minor leagues for August 20, 2024.
Leading this Morning’s Briefing: Welcome to Brady House's House
So welcome to BRADY House house.
I've followed Brady House's development since the Washington Nationals selected him with the 11th overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft. The first time that I saw House was when he debuted in 2022 with Fredericksburg Nationals.
The night I saw him, I think he played behind Stephen Strasburg at 3B while Strasburg was trying to return to pitching in the majors.
In 2022, he played for the Low-A Fredericksburg Nationals but was limited to 45 games due to a back injury. Despite the setback, he posted a .278 batting average with eight doubles, three home runs, and 31 RBIs.
House returned to Fredericksburg to start the 2023 season, hitting .297 in 36 games. Promoted to High-A Wilmington in June, he batted .317 with five doubles and three home runs. Selected for the National League Futures All-Star Game, he finished the season with the Double-A Harrisburg Senators, where he posted a .324 batting average with eight doubles, two triples, and three home runs.
House began the 2024 season with Harrisburg, recording 11 doubles, one triple, and 13 home runs in 75 games. While with Harrisburg, Brady had a .234 in 274 at-bats, Dan Glickman of the Pickin' Splinters noted that "he’s [House] remained a major power threat tied for third in the Eastern League in home runs, with 13. He’s also well-regarded for his infield arm, which inspired a move to third from shortstop in 2023."
Now playing the Triple A-Rochester Red Wings House, has a batting average of .273, an OPS of .772 a slugging percentage of .464 with five homeruns, 24 RBI, 31 strikeouts, and 30 hits with 110 at-bats.
Despite not registering a hit during Sunday's game against the Syracuse Mets, House had his first multi-homer game on August 15th. House has been producing at the plate, and House has been producing at the plate; House has only committed two errors at third base and has a fielding percentage of .969 in over 219.0 innings played so far at the Triple-A level.
House was also named to the National League Futures All-Star team for the second consecutive year. This year, House was one of eight competitors participating in the Future Skills showcase. In addition to getting broader Major League coverage, the Nationals have started showcasing House. Brady House participated in this year's Nationals Futures Game in D.C. in the spring.
Brady House is making the case to start next year at the Triple-A level, and we could even possibly see him with the Nationals during the latter half of next season.
