Leading this Morning’s Briefing: It's Playoff Time in Fredericksburg

The Fredericksburg Nationals will kick off their playoff push tonight against the Carolina Mud Cats in game 1 of the division round at Virginia Credit Union Stadium in Fredericksburg.

The Fredericksburg Nationals will send LHP Alex Clemmey to the mound tonight; the Mud Cats have yet to announce their starter.

The Fredericksburg Nationals had a winning record of 10-8 during the regular season against the Carolina Mud Cats. The Fredericksburg Nationals also were 38-28 at home and 36-29 on the road this season.

After Tuesday's game, the Fredericksburg Nationals will play game #2 in Carolina, and if necessary, Game 3 will also be played in Carolina.

Washington Nationals Minor Leagues Rewind

Here’s what’s happening around the Washington Nationals minor league teams.

Rochester Red Wings - Triple-A Affiliate

The Rochester Red Wings will kick off their season's final road trip against the Indianapolis Indians tonight. The first pitch will be at 6:35 p.m. EDT.

After this road trip, the Red Wings will return home for their final series and homestand next week against the Iowa Cubs.

In related news, the Washington Nationals announced yesterday afternoon that OF Travis Blankenhorn has elected free agency after the team designated the infielder/outfielder for assignment with the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings on September 6, 2024.

Harrisburg Senators - Double-A Affiliate

The Harrisburg Senators will kick off their final homestand and series of the season by hosting the Reading Fightin Phils at FNB Field in Harrisburg tonight. The Senators enter tonight's game with a record of 65-67 and are in third place in the Eastern League Southwest.

Wilmington Blue Rocks - High-A Affiliate

The Wilimington Blue Rocks season is officially over, as they completed their season over the weekend and the series against the Brooklyn Cyclones. The Wilimington Blue Rocks will finish the season with an overall record of 57-75 and in last place in the South Atlantic League.

The Blue Rocks will also finish with a 37-29 at home and 20-46 on the road.
